A: Our Balustrade Kits are supplied pre manufactured ready for site installation and can be installed by anyone with good DIY skills, Shop Fitting Experience, Joinery or Building Experience. We can supply all the fixings and tools required to make the installation as straight forward as possible.
Q: Do I require a site visit for an accurate quotation?
A: A site visit is not required, we can work from architects drawings, technical drawings, sketches or a deatiled description over the phone. If you use our online balustrade kit quotation system and enter the perimeter dimensions this will provide an accurate quotation immediatley by email.
Q: What is the difference between the two grades of stainless steel you supply?
A: Aesthetically there is no difference between two grades of stainless steel we supply. The difference is in the materials corrosion properties 304 is for internal use only and 316 for internal or external use.
Q: Can 304 and 316 components be used together?
A: Yes the product grades can be mixed but if 304 material is used externally it will show signs of corrosion over a short period of time.
Q: What is the difference between Satin Polish and Chrome Polish components?
A: Satin Polish or brushed polished finish which can be used used internally or externally (not recommended for costal areas). Chrome polish or mirror polished finish can also be used internally or externally but is mainly used in costal environments to help prevent maintenance due to salt spray that can cause corrosion on a standard satin polish finish.
GLASS CLAMPS
What distance do I leave between the post and the glass panel?
The back of the clamp is 16mm in depth and we recommend a gap of 20mm (the 20mm gap should not be exceeded).
Does the glass require drilling?
All glass clamps are supplied with an optional securing pin, the friction of the rubber gaskets is sufficient in most cases without a securing pin. Please contact our sales team for details on hole location for the glass clamp required.
How do I fix the glass clamp?
Wooden Posts – We would recommend using an M8 threaded insert that knocks into the post and an M8x20 Socket Head Cap Screw Bolt which are both available on-line.
Steel Posts – All our balustrade posts are pre-drilled with an M8 threaded insert to take an M8x20 Socket Head Cap Screw Bolt which are available on-line. If you are drilling your own steelwork an M8 thread is required to accept an M8 Bolt, Drills Taps and Bolts all available on-line.
